Our Story

The Inspiration

  • As the Eyes of Freedom traveled across the United States, we began to hear more and more of our veterans sharing their stories of post traumatic stress, survivor's guilt and suicide of their fellow servicemen and women.  Brian Zimmerman who visited the Eyes of Freedom shared his story with our staff who encouraged him to share his experience with Anita, the artist of the EoF. He said, "The first step in healing is knowing you aren't alone." Brian's courage to share his experience has led many veterans to their own healing.

The Artist

  • Anita Miller was teaching painting and drawing to adults in her log cabin studio when she received the vision of the Lima Company Memorial, now called "The Eyes of Freedom". Working with the families of the fallen and creating the Memorial gave her a deeper appreciation for those who offer their lives in service. Since then she is passionate about bridging the gap between the civilian and veteran populations through art. She wanted a sculptural piece for Silent Battle so she took a few workshops and then dove in. Silent Battle is her first foray into bronze.

Eyes of Freedom

  • Silent Battle tours the country with The Eyes of Freedom Traveling Memorial and is available to come to your home town. Our mission is to honor the Service and Sacrifice of ALL who answer our Nation's call, then, now and tomorrow. We do this through the eyes of the fallen of Lima Company. Although, the life sized portraits are of specific servicemen, they represent all our military. We come to community festivals and veteran's events, colleges, schools, corporate settings and even prisons.

Two Sizes of Silent Battle

We offer Silent Battle in life size for parks, gardens and public display, and we also offer a personal size replica, which sits on a 12" square base. Email or call for pricing.
